EDUCATION

BRMC's education programs bring participants into nature--the only place where people can develop a full appreciation of the resources nature provides and the importance of preserving them. ​
 
With a strong link to local history, our programs have a high leader-to-participant ratio, ensuring a focused and quality education experience. In 2025, we served nearly 3,000 children and adults, providing over 10,000 impact hours through our public education programs.

STEWARDSHIP

Hands-on stewardship is good for nature—and its good for you. Getting out into nature is scientifically proven to reduce stress, improve the mood, and deliver multiple health benefits.

BRMC offers  several opportunities for you to get your hands dirty and "give back"—from removing invasive species at Leopold's Preserve to working with kids at our many outdoor events to gardening at our beautiful mountain house.

RESEARCH

Scientific research is at the heart of everything we do. For over 30 years, BRMC has sponsored and assisted numerous baseline studies that add important data to our understanding of local landscapes.
​

Topics of research have included stream and water quality; forest ecology and health; insect surveys, including important pollinator populations of butterflies, moths, and beetles; American Chestnut restoration; and the impact of white nose syndrome on bat fauna populations.
