Hike with a Naturalist
Learn all about the flora and fauna of the Bull Run Mountains region—and get your daily steps in while you're at it!
You don't have to be an avid hiker. Less than two miles, these casual hikes are great way to see new places, key locations, and wildlife of this unique nature preserve.

Hikes occur every first Wednesday of the warm months and are free.​ Meet at Leopold's Preserve at 10am. Registration required.
Town & Country Nature Walks
BRMC brings the nature center to you!
Led by a naturalist, BRMC's Town & Country Nature Walks reveal the nature happening right outside your door—perfect for anyone who wants to experience nature but can't travel or doesn't know where to go.

By the end of your first walk, you'll have the knowledge you need to appreciate the "wild side" of your own neighborhood and begin visiting natural places further afield. ​

Speaker Series
Come to the BRMC Mountain House for expert talks and lectures by authors, historians, and environmentalists. Past topics have included:

Homeschool Series
Kids of all ages—along with their parents!—are led by a professional naturalist on a two-hour hike at Leopold's Preserve. Each hike focuses on a different theme, ranging from forest, watershed, and stream ecology to geology, natural history, and local history
.
Home School Hikes are offered once a month and usually take place on third Thursday of every month.​Click here to register (required).
