Exploring the Southern Ocean & Antarctic

Photographer and historian Mills Kelly recently journeyed to the Southern Ocean (South Georgia, Antarctica) on a photographic expedition and will be giving a talk about what it is like to spend time in a place of such ecological abundance. For example, on his trip they visited a King Penguin colony with approximately 150,000 penguins in one small bay. In addition to showing his images of wild landscapes, penguins, albatrosses, elephant seals, and whales. Mills will discuss the challenges the Southern Ocean ecosystem faces both from climate change and from human encroachment. The speaker series will be held at the Mountain House located at 17405 Beverley Mill Drive Broad Run, VA 20137 on Saturday, June, 20th from 2 pm to 4 pm. Admission is free.
