Recent Articles from BRMC NewslettersTrail Talkby Jennifer HelwigWell, I survived my first Halloween Safari! Besides being such a fun and educational event, I was amazed by the caliber of our volunteers. Their hard work and dedication is what makes this event successful, and I am very proud to be apart of an organization that promotes this kind of volunteerism and stewardship. BRMC thanks everyone that contributed to Halloween Safari!
Hundreds of people enjoyed the Halloween Safari event at BRMC in October 2008. Patrons were entertained by live music around the campfire, facepainting, snake handling, and nature crafts as they waited for their trail guide to lead them thru the forest at night. Along the hike patrons were met by several "animals" along the way. A family of bears, a mother bobcat and her cub, a Bobwhite Quail, and a Black Widow spider all performed entertaining skits along the path. The trail guide led hikers to a campfire out in the woods where they enjoyed more live music and snacks. Back at the mountain house volunteers were making popcorn over the fire, hot cider, and home-made hot chocolate as patrons enjoyed the campfire. The event took place rain or shine and festivities went on for three nights. What a great, non-scary event to celebrate Halloween!
