A New Path for Catlett’s Branch

Several thunder storms and lightening strikes during the month of May left quite an impact on the trails...and even altered one of the creeks! With the falling of a large beech tree after nearly ten inches of rain, the stream at Catlett’s Branch has taken a new path. Many down trees and debris from the storms, as well as the changing course of the creek, have left this intersection looking much different than before. Cub Scout pack 1382 from Aldie Elementary School had volunteered to spend a Saturday morning helping with trail maintenance - the Saturday after the storm. Led by BRMC volunteer Chris Braun, the scouts hiked out to Catlett’s Branch trail, and were astonished to be greeted by a huge fallen beech tree completely covering the trail! This was far more work than anyone had expected, but the scouts - and their dads- got the job done. BRMC thanks everyone involved for all of their hard work!
